Battle of Bayou Fourche

The Battle of Bayou Fourche in the American Civil War took place on September 10, 1863. The battle pitted Confederate Brigadier General John S. Marmaduke against Union Brigadier General John W. Davidson.
The battle was fought at the mouth of the Fourche Creek where it discharges into the Arkansas River east of Little Rock. Davidson's troops crossed the Arkansas River to the Fourche Creek bayou and, with the help of an artillery barrage, drove the Confederates back into the city. Little Rock was captured by federal troops later on the evening of September 10th.
