History of the LRRCC

The LRRCC was founded as the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce in 1866. The first president of the organization was Colonel Dudley E. Jones, and first secretary Henry W. Wilson. The first meeting was held in the Main Street grocery of Colonel W. S. Oliver. The group then moved to, among other places, the Ditter Building at the corner of Markham and Rock streets.

The organization's name changed to the Cotton Exchange in 1882, the Little Rock Cotton and Produce Exchange in 1883, and the Little Rock Board of Trade in 1884. In 1914 the group returned to its original name of Little Rock Chamber of Commerce. The name changed again in 1918 to the Little Rock Board of Commerce. The name changed again in 1924, returning to its origins as the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce. In 1944 it became the Greater Little Rock Chamber of Commerce. When North Little Rock established its own Chamber of Commerce in 1947 the organization briefly returned to its former name. Today it is known as the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber of Commerce opened its new headquarters at One Chamber Plaza near the Statehouse Convention Center in December 2000, one block east of its original location.

The LRRCC is affiliated with the group Fifty for the Future.
