Pulaski Heights Elementary

From FranaWiki

Pulaski Heights Elementary is located in the Pulaski Heights neighborhood of Little Rock. It is joined to Pulaski Heights Middle School by a two-story library and media center.

Pulaski Heights school was established in 1908 in a former brick store at the corner of Oak and Prospect streets. The school in those days served a mostly rural population. The store was replaced the next year by a four-room schoolhouse built nearby on land donated by Lydia Dice. The school enrolled about one hundred students in those days.

In 1921 the school district built a larger school to accommodate grammar school students and junior high students. This building still houses the Pulaski Heights Middle School. In 1927 a new Pulaski Heights Elementary was built next door. A cafeteria and gymnasium built in 1935 was shared by both schools. All of the buildings on site were renovated in 1984. A library and media center was added between the two schools in 2004.

The school is located at 319 North Pine Street.
