Markham Tavern

Markham Tavern in Lewisburg, Arkansas, served as a relay station on the Butterfield Stage Route between Little Rock and Fort Smith in the nineteenth century. The tavern, owned by former Alabaman Ruben T. Markham, had a bar and hotel accommodations. Sam Houston is reputed to have stopped at the tavern.
