Little Rock and Fort Smith Railroad

The Little Rock and Fort Smith Railroad was completed in the mid-1870s. The railroad was owned by James G. Blaine and partners.
Eighty-two miles of track had been laid from the railway's terminus in Argenta in 1871. The railway reached Van Buren, Arkansas, on January 30, 1879. The railroad was acquired by the St. Louis, Iron Mountain, and Southern Railway in 1906.
