Vestal Nursery
Vestal Nursery(formally known as Joseph W. Vestal Company) was a wholesale and retail nursery and floral business located in North Little Rock. The firm was established in Cambridge City, Indiana, by Joseph Wysong Vestal, a native of Harveyburg, Ohio, in 1860. Vestal relocated his business to Arkansas in 1880, purchasing 130 acres along the Arkansas River from the St. Louis, Iron Mountain, and Southern Railway. When Joseph Vestal died in 1917 his son Charles Vestal took over ownership of the company until his own death in 1928.
The old Vestal Nursery chimney, all that remains of a large heated greenhouse operation, still stands near the River Road. The chimney is expected to become a centerpiece of the Rockwater Village New Urbanist housing development.
