The Butler Center for Arkansas Studies is a department of the Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) for the propagation of Arkansas history and culture. The Butler Center was established in 1997 with an endowment from Richard C. Butler Sr.

During a week celebrating the Clinton Library dedication in November 2004 the Butler Center hosted an exhibition of memorabilia from all nineteen presidents since Herbert Hoover who visited the state of Arkansas. The exhibit featured life-sized cutouts of the presidents, beside which visitors could pose.

The Butler Center has a research fellowship program. Research fellows assist the Center in the development of research collections. The 2008 Fellow is Hendrix College political science professor Jay Barth.
