The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette was formed in October 1991 with the acquisition of the Arkansas Gazette by the Arkansas Democrat. This buyout came immediately after the Gazette's parent company, Gannett Corporation, halted production of the paper.
As of the first quarter of 2006 the paper had a circulation of 180,661 daily and 275,991 on Sunday.
