Jason Rouby was executive director of Metroplan from the mid-1960s to the late 1980s.
Rouby received a bachelor's degree in English at Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. While in Ohio he worked as a copy boy and police reporter for the Cleveland Plain Dealer. He worked at the Jonesboro Evening Sun for three years. He then moved to the Arkansas Gazette newspaper between November 1, 1951, and April 1, 1959. His beat included Little Rock City Hall, North Little Rock City Hall, the Pulaski County Courthouse, the Little Rock Housing Authority, and Metroplan.
In 1956, on a Congressional Fellowship awarded by the American Political Science Association, Rouby worked on the election campaigns of Adlai Stevenson, Brooks Hays, and J. William Fulbright.
