Gregg Jay Herning is general manager of the Peabody Hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas. Herning is former director of sales and marketing at the Royal d'Iberville Hotel in Biloxi, Mississippi, and the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee. He became general manager of the Peabody Hotel in 2004, and lived on the property for fifteen months to learn as much as possible about the hotel's operation. He is inspired in his work by the management techniques pioneered by the Disney resorts and theme parks.

Herning is a native of Detroit, Michigan. He is married to Cheryl Herning, with whom he has four children. He moonlights with the classic rock cover band Crisis!
