Fort Steele School

Fort Steele School served the Little Rock School District from 1885 to 1915. The school was constructed at the intersection of Thirteenth and Izard streets. The original school building was torn down around 1909 and replaced by a new Fort Steele building. This second school burned to the ground in April 1915. A new school, called the U. M. Rose School was built on the site later that same year.
