Daisy Bates

Daisy L. Gatson Bates (1914-1999) was advisor to the Little Rock Nine during the 1957 Central High School desegregation crisis. Bates was also publisher of the Arkansas State Press newspaper.
Daisy Bates was born in Huttig, Arkansas.
