Thomas Harding was a respected architect in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born in Salem, Massachusett's "House of Seven Gables," the imaginary setting for Nathaniel Hawthorne's novel of the same name. Harding came to Little Rock from Ohio in 1869.

Harding's son Thomas Harding Jr. became a partner in the local architectural firm of Thompson and Harding Architects.
