James Bridges

James Bridges was a successful Hollywood writer and director born in Paris, Arkansas. Among his most popular films were The Paper Chase, China Syndrome, and Urban Cowboy.
Bridges attended the Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway from 1954 to 1956. He was a drum major in college and also a dramatic performer. Bridges landed bit parts in "Dragnet" and "Matinee Theater" before establishing himself as a notable filmmaker.
Bridges died of intestinal cancer in June 1993.
