Little Rock, Mississippi River, and Texas Railway

The Little Rock, Mississippi River, and Texas Railway received a charter to build a railroad from Chicot on the Mississippi River to Little Rock, Arkansas in 1870. A railway line was completed to Pine Bluff in 1873. In 1881 the railway completed a line from Pine Bluff to Little Rock. Rail service in Little Rock operated out of Union Depot. On January 28, 1887, the St. Louis, Iron Mountain, and Southern Railway purchased the Little Rock, Mississippi River, and Texas Railway. The railway later became part of the Missouri Pacific Railroad company.
