The Clinton Presidential Materials Project began in October 2000 with the anticipated transition in leadership from then-president Bill Clinton to the next executive-in-chief. David Alsobrook, with an initial staff of four archivists from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), began creating finding aids for Clinton's presidential papers. Over the next four years these NARA staff members organized the movement of documents, artifacts, and other media from the Clinton administration from Washington, DC, to the Clinton Library Archives in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Some of the notable achievements of the project beyond the organizing and movement of 80 million pages of documents
