The first local Walgreen Drug Store was located on Main Street in downtown Little Rock, next door to Moses Melody Shop. Walgreen's opened at the location in the 1930s.
During the 1960s Civil Rights struggle the store experienced sit-ins by African Americans protesting the store's segregated lunch counters. The store closed on January 15, 1977.
