Socks was the cat owned by the Clinton family during Bill Clinton's tenure as Arkansas governor and President of the United States.

Socks the Cat Rocks the Hill, an unreleased video game for Super Nintendo Entertainment Systems and the Sega Genesis, features the First Cat. The game is apparently a platformer in which Socks must bypass foreign spies, evil politicians, and members of the media in order to reach the White House and warn others of a rogue nuke.

Socks was born in 1989 and was put to sleep on February 20, 2009. Socks' ashes were scattered on the grounds of the Arkansas Governor's Mansion in March 2009.
