John Podesta is former Assistant to the President and Deputy Chief of Staff in the Clinton Administration. Podesta is co-editor of The Fight for Power, the fifth of sixteen policy alcoves in the Clinton Library museum exhibits. The text presented in the alcove acknowledges a "serious mistake" on Clinton's part in engaging in a sexual dalliance with White House intern Monica Lewinsky, and admits that he had "not been forthcoming" when challenged about the relationship.

Podesta's papers created while serving in Clinton's White House are on file in the Clinton Library Archives. Some of his papers were released on November 8, 2007, in response to a Freedom of Information Act request for information concerning extraterrestrials and UFOs. Podesta was a fan of the 1990s television science fiction show the X-Files, and this fact is documented in his files.
