John Lewis Ferguson (1926-2006) was Arkansas state historian and director of the Arkansas History Commission and State Archives.
Ferguson completed his doctoral dissertation on "William E. Woodruff and the Territory of Arkansas, 1819-1836," at Tulane University in 1960.
