Bighead Carp (Hypophthalmichthys nobilis) is a nonindigenous species of Chinese fish known to have recently invaded the Arkansas River watershed. Bighead carp have been fished from the waters of the river as far north as Pine Bluff, Arkansas, as well as between Wilbur D. Mills Dam No. 2 and the Mississippi River outlet. The fish is also found in the White River National Wildlife Refuge and in local municipal sewage lagoons, where it is actively stocked.
