The '''Little Rock Oil and Compress Company''' erected its cotton sheds in the nineteenth century along Water Street near where Main Street dead-ended at the [[Arkansas River]]. It also operated the [[Little Rock Mill]] for processing cotton at 1000-1022 East Second Street in the city. The mill averaged 125 employees on the site at any given time.
