The '''Little Rock, Mississippi River, and Texas Railway''' received a charter to build a railroad from Chicot on the Mississippi River to [[Little Rock]], Arkansas in 1870.  A railway line was completed to Pine Bluff in 1873. In 1881 the railway completed a line from Pine Bluff to Little Rock. Rail service in Little Rock operated out of [[Union Station|Union Depot]]. On January 28, 1887, the [[St. Louis, Iron Mountain, and Southern Railway]] purchased the Little Rock, Mississippi River, and Texas Railway. The railway later became part of the [[Missouri Pacific Railroad]] company.
