Second Lieutenant Walker Tedford
Personal History
Tedford was born on May 2, 1919, in Wattensaw, AR, to Luther E. and Golden J. Tedford. He had three siblings: Lee, Reece, and Ernestine Tedford. He lived both in Alaska and South Carolina for some time before attending Arkansas State Teachers College (known as the University of Central Arkansas today) for one year.
In the military Tedford served in the U.S. Army Infantry as well as the U.S. Army Air Corps.
While stationed in Greenville, South Carolina Tedford was co-piloting a B-25C bomber that crashed. He was killed and his body was returned to Arkansas where he is buried in the Salem Cemetery in Lonoke, AR.
