West Side Junior High School is a former school in the Little Rock School District system. The school opened in 1917 to about nine hundred seventh and eighth graders. The school closed in 1971 and became the Little Rock Skills Center for vocational training. In 1984 the Skills Center left the building. It remained abandoned until major renovations began in November 2002 by Arc Arkansas. More than $5 in restoration work was completed by December 2003, when the building reopened with forty-three loft apartments. The adjoining auditorium and cafeteria building for the school became part of the UAMS College of Medicine.
