Methodist Family Health is one of the oldest hospitals in the state of Arkansas. The hospital, in Little Rock, was founded in 1899 by the Arkansas Conference of the United Methodist Church as the Arkansas Methodist Orphanage. The name eventually changed to Methodist Children's Home. In September 2001 the children's home opened a subsidiary called Methodist Behavioral Hospital in Maumelle. In 2003 the home and the hospital merged to form Methodist Family Health. Fundraising, development, and public relations activities for Arkansas Family Health are maintained by the Methodist Family Health Foundation.
