Joe T. Ford

Joe T. Ford was chairman and chief executive officer of the ALLTEL Corporation.
Ford began working at Allied Telephone Company in 1959 in the position of yellow pages salesman. He became president of the company in 1977. He became president of ALLTEL after the merger of Allied Telephone and Mid-Continent Telephone Corporation in 1983. Ford became chairman of the board in 1981 and chief executive officer in 1987. Over his career Ford initiated more than two-hundred and fifty mergers and acquisitions.
Ford received a bachelor's of business administration from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1959. He was elected to the Arkansas Senate in 1967 and remained in office until 1982.
