Harlan Park Baptist Church was established in Conway, Arkansas, on July 10, 1966. The church was a mission of the local First Baptist Church. The original congregation had twenty-two members and met in a home owned by Hendrix College. On September 1, 1966, services were moved to the home of G. E. Owen at the corner of College Avenue and Locust Street. The first pastor to thirty-two charter members was the Reverend Allen T. McCurry, a missionary from the Faulkner Baptist Association.

In 1967 the congregation, now about fifty members, erected a new sanctuary on Hartje Lane in south Conway. This church, accommodating 150 in its sanctuary, was constructed by R & W Construction Company of North Little Rock.
