The Donaghey Project for Urban Studies and Design is an academic unit and extension service agency of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The Donaghey Project serves small and large urban areas in Arkansas by providing design and planning expertise.
The coordinator of the project is architect George Wittenberg III. The Project's staff members created the Six Bridges District Plan in 1999 to reintegrate Little Rock and North Little Rock over the six main auto and rail bridges spanning the Arkansas River in the downtown districts of both cities. The six bridges are the Baring Cross Bridge, Broadway Bridge, Main Street Bridge, Junction Bridge, I-30 Bridge, and Rock Island Bridge. The plan has led so far to the repurposing of the old Junction Bridge for pedestrian use.
