The Arkansas Constitution of 1836 was the first constitution of the State of Arkansas. The first Arkansas Constitutional Convention convened on January 30, 1836, and was ratified on January 30, 1836. The constitution became the law of the land upon admission of Arkansas to the United States of America on June 15, 1836, and remained in effect until passage of the Confederate Constitution of 1861.
