Central Arkansas Transit Authority

The Central Arkansas Transit Authority (CATA) is a public utility that controls the rail and bus transit system for the City of Little Rock. CATA was formed in 1986. The executive director of CATA used to be Keith Jones. Betty Wineland became Executive Director on Jan. 1, 2007.

About 8,600 passengers boarded CATA buses each day in spring 2008. CATA has twenty-one fixed routes, three express routes, fifty-five buses, and five streetcars. Bus service extends beyond the city limits of Little Rock and North Little Rock to Maumelle and Sherwood.

The streetcar maintenance barn is located at the corner of Seventh and Main streets in North Little Rock's Argenta Historic District.

CATA bus rides cost $1.25. Thirty-one day passes are $34; $17 for seniors and the disabled.
