Sherece Y. West
Sherece Y. West is president and chief executive officer of the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation in Little Rock, Arkansas. She assumed these offices from Sybil J. Hampton in May 2007.
West is a community development, public policy, and disaster recovery expert. She received her bachelor's degree from Bowie State University, her master's in Public Policy from the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan, and her Ph.D. degree in Public Policy from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. She began her career at the Social Security Administration, moving around to the Maryland Municipal League, District of Columbia Department of Public Health, the Community Service Society of New York City, the Ford Foundation, and the Annie E. Casey Foundation. West then joined the Carrier Foundation of Louisiana, where she led the Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation in the wake of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
