The Markham Street Barbershop at the corner of Spring and Markham streets closed on March 12, 1966, and was demolished a few months later as part of the Central Little Rock Urban Renewal Project. The barbershop was operated for thirty years from the 1920s to the 1950s by [[M. E. Carr]. Since 1958 the barbershop had been operated by H. G. Cleaver.
