The Doctors' Building was established at 500 South University Avenue in the spring of 1964. More than sixty doctors and a few barbers moved into the facility in March and April of that year. The move of doctors from downtown to the suburbs followed on the heels of the announcement of a new Baptist Medical Center facility at the corner of University and Evergreen avenues.
