The Saline River arises in Saline County, Arkansas, from four main tributaries: the North Fork, Alum Fork, South Fork, and Middle Fork. The river passes Benton to the west and Traskwood on the east as it meanders mostly south towards the Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge just above the Louisiana state line. The Saline River joins with the Ouachita River at the refuge. The river is classified as a Class I stream with some Class II rapids in times of high water.
