Jacob R. Rightsell was superintendent of the Little Rock School District from 1871-1874, and again from 1884-1905. From 1875 to 1880 Rightsell occupied a position at the House of Representatives' Library in Washington, DC. Between 1880 and 1883 he served as a principal in Little Rock schools.
Rightsell was originally hired as a Little Rock school principal in 1870.
