Thomas Harding III
Thomas Harding III (1911-2002) was a commercial photographer with a studio along Broadway in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Harding was born to architect Thomas Hardin II and Mary Rice Harding in Little Rock on July 7, 1911. He attended the St. Andrews Cathedral school, Little Rock High School, and Washington University in St. Louis. Before the Second World War he worked in the architectural practice of his father. During the war Harding served in the Air Force during the North African and Italian campaigns.
Harding opened a photography studio in Little Rock in 1945. In 1964 Harding exited the business and joined the Bachrach studio in New York City. In 1970 he reestablished a photography business in Little Rock. The business specialized in portraits and advertising photography. Harding retired in June 1982.
He is the author of two books: One Room Schoolhouses of Arkansas As Seen Through a Pinhole (1993) and An Outhouse by Any Other Name (1999).
Harding was a member of Holy Souls Catholic Church, the Cathedral of St. Andrew's, the Arkansas Advertising Federation, Downtown Little Rock Rotary Club, and local Sales and Marketing Executives Club.
Harding died on August 4, 2002, and is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Little Rock. Harding's son is Thomas Harding IV.
