Little Rock City Hall at 500 West Markham Street is the seat of government of the City of Little Rock. The Classic Revival-style City Hall building at the corner of Markham Street and Broadway hosted its grand opening on April 15, 1908. The building originally sported a copper dome and large windows. The dome was removed in 1955 and never restored. Many windows were bricked-in in the 1960s to reduce the cost of air-conditioning.
City Hall was originally located on the second floor of a liquor store.
The current City Hall building was originally occupied by city offices that have since moved into separate facilities like the Museum of Natural History and Antiquities and the Little Rock Police Department. The West Wing of the structure connected to the Central Fire Station, built in 1912.
