Johann Andreas Wiederkehr was among the first pioneers of Arkansas wine country. He immigrated from Switzerland . Wiederkehr began digging out his wine cellar at his farm almost immediately. The first wines that he made were from native grapes, blackberries and persimmons. He received a patent on his Campbell Early Mutation Grape. He taught his son, Herman J. B. Wiederkehr all of his skill in wine making.
