J. T. Beal was the president of the Beal-McDonnell Wholesale Dry Goods Company, a wholesaler established in 1913. Beal was a former principal in the Beal-Doyle Dry Goods Company founded by Thomas N. Doyle. Beal's interest in the firm was eventually purchased by B. P. Kidd and the company was renamed the Doyle-Kidd Dry Goods Company.
