James Henry Smith was an African-American dentist, inventor, author, and artist in Little Rock, Arkansas. He operated a dental practice on Main Street beginning in 1878. Smith owned a home at 707 Broadway. Smith's patents included a peach stoner. He was the author of Maudelle: A Novel Founded on the Facts Gathered from Living Witnesses (1906).
