Shorter Collegeis a two-year private liberal arts college in Little Rock. The college is affiliated with the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
The school was founded in 1886 under the name Bethel University, and began granting four-year degrees. It became Shorter College in 1903. In 1955 the decision was made to reduce the institution to two-year status. It began establishing connections to Philander Smith College and Arkansas Baptist.
