The Arkansas Academy of Science is a state scientific organization for the "promotion and diffusion of knowledge." The academy was founded in 1917. The society places especial emphasis upon astronomy, biomedical science, botany, chemistry, ecology, engineering, environmental science, geology, invertebrate zoology, physics, plant science, and vertebrate zoology.
The annual meeting of the Arkansas Academy of Science takes place on the second weekend of April each year. The academy publishes the Journal of the Arkansas Academy of Science and a Newsletter of the Arkansas Academy of Science.
