The blacks-only Phyllis Wheatley YWCA was just off Ninth Street in the African-American business district of the city. The address of the Phyllis Wheatley club was 924 South Gaines Street.

The YWCA today operates the Bess Chisum Stephens YWCA at 1200 South Cleveland Street.
