Johann Andreas Wiederkehr was among the first pioneers of Arkansas wine country. He immigrated from Switzerland. Wiederkehr began digging out his wine cellar at his farm almost immediately. The first wines that he made were from native grapes, blackberries and persimmons. He received a patent on his Campbell Early mutation grape. He taught his son, Herman J. B. Wiederkehr all of his skill in wine making.
