The company began as a Harkrider Avenue bus window and aluminum sash manufacturer associated with the local bus plant [[Ward Body Works]]. C. S. Sash became Surelite in 1969, and the company expanded into the insulated and laminated glass business. The company also began to manufacture auxiliary back-of-the-bus heaters, as well as plastic casings for control panels and wheel well covers, for buses. The company also made plastic casings for use in boats and other vehicles.
