Arnold was born on March 26, 1936, and died from complications of lymphoma in 2004. He attended Exeter Academy, Yale University and Harvard Law School.&lt;br /&gt;

Arnold was survived by his second wife Kay Kelley Arnold and his brother Judge [[Morris &amp;quot;Buzz&amp;quot; Arnold]] who has served on the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals since 1992. Arnold was originally married to Gale Hussman, sister of ''Democrat-Gazette'' newspaper publisher [[Walter E. Hussman Jr.]]. His grandfather was Texarkana lawyer William H. Arnold. His father was [[Richard Lewis Arnold]].&lt;br /&gt;
