Frank Lyon Sr.
Frank Lyon Sr. (1910-1998) was chairman of Little Rock's Frank Lyon Company. The electrical appliance distribution company was founded in 1942. The company received the RCA franchise for Arkansas in 1952. It also held distributorships for Whirlpool and RCA appliances across Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Louisiana, and Texas. The company sold RCA televisions to Wal-Mart from the 1970s to 1989.
Lyon also owned the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Arkansas, the 13,000-acre Wingmead Farms, and Twin City Bank. He was also an investor in the downtown Little Rock buildings housing the Worthen Bank & Trust Company and First Federal Savings & Loan.
Lyon College (formerly Arkansas College) was named for him in 1994.
Lyon was born in Camden in 1910. He attended the University of Alabama.
