Not too far North of Arkansas’ capital (Little Rock) is Conway. Conway is a smaller town and offers many advantages to its inhabitants. There are three colleges in Conway: The University of Central Arkansas (the second largest university in the state), Central Baptist College, and Hendrix College. The downtown area of Conway is quaint and pleasant. Conway has at least two post offices. There is a wide variety of restaurants to choose from in Conway. There are of course, fast food places like Wendy’s, Sonic, and McDonald’s. There are also places like Chili’s and Cracker Barrel. A favorite among some college students is Stoby’s, located on Donaghey Avenue. Stoby’s is known among some for their delicious cheese dip. There are two movie theaters in Conway. The Conway Commons offers excellent shopping. Stores such as TJ Max, Target, and Kohl’s, provide a good shopping experience.

Fellowship Bible Church (FBC) in Little Rock was established over twenty five years ago. The church has met at Pulaski Academy, Breckenridge Theater, and at the corner of Napa Valley and Hinson road. Recently it has moved to off of Rhaling Road. FBC believes in the Bible as the inspired word of God and believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and is the only means of attaining salvation. FBC is nondenominational. They see themselves as an equipping church, that is, they want to equip people to tell others about the gospel (as found in the bible), and reach out to the community with the kind of love that the Bible advocates and Jesus modeled. FBC wants to reach out to the community, build godly people, and release those people into the community, the country, and the world to be an influence for the gospel and the love of God. FBC offers two Sunday morning services, one at 9:00 and one at 11:00. Children can attend Sunday school at Fellowship Kids and students from 7th-12th grade can attend Fellowship Student Ministries.

Murray’s Diner Playhouse offers an excellent evening of entertainment. Murray’s Dinner Playhouse puts on shows ranging from Broadway hits to mysteries, to comedies, to musicals. Some of their past shows include The Sound of Music and Grease. Guests at Murray’s Dinner Playhouse arrive and are seated in the theater at one of the many tables. Some tables hold just two, others can accommodate more. Tables toward the back are elevated. There are a few levels of seating so that wherever one is seated, one can see the stage adequately. The tables are arranged in a semi-circle around the stage. Dinner is buffet style and guests serve themselves from a set line of food. The food includes a choices like a meat, vegetables such as potatoes, bread, and a dessert. The food is good quality and tastes excellent. Once a guest has gotten his or her dinner there is a little while before the show starts. During this time a guest may enjoy dinner and conversation. After dinner, the show begins. Going to Murray’s Dinner Playhouse is an all-evening event and will be a memorable evening for all involved. Some shows and Murray’s Dinner Playhouse are more appropriate for younger children than others. It is advisable to call ahead and ask about the show’s content before bringing younger children.

Firehouse Subs in Little Rock, offers a tasty array of sub sandwiches. Firehouse subs is located off of Rodney Parham in Little Rock. Firehouse subs is in the same shopping area as the Kroger on Rodney Parham. Also near firehouse subs is Breckenridge movie theatre. Thus, patrons of firehouse subs may enjoy catching a movie after consuming a delicious sandwich. Or, since it is also near the Kroger (nearer to the Kroger than the movie theatre), grocery shoppers can satisfy their hunger after a long morning or afternoon of grocery shopping. Firehouse subs is clean, affordable, and delicious. Their Hook and Ladder Sandwich is a favorite of several customers. One Hook and Ladder sandwich can be nicely split between two people of moderate appetite, especially if they also order chips and a drink. Firehouse subs may be compared to Subway. The food is excellent.

Petit Jean State Park is a beautiful place for day trips and longer vacations. There are several cozy cabins including some that are big enough for a whole family. Whether guests stay for a day or for several days, the trails are a must for the vacation’s activities. There are trails leading down to Ceder Falls, trails leading into cave-like spaces, and trails near streams. Guests who are staying overnight may enjoy the meals offered in the restaurant located in the Petit Jean’s Mather Lodge. Near Mather Lodge there is a beautiful view. The lodge also includes a gift store, selling cute stuffed animals, Petit Jean shirts and sweatshirts, key chains, books, post cards, and other interesting items. The food in the restaurant is quality and the service is cheerful and well executed. There is a large fireplace in the lodge as one first enters. At Christmas time a grand Christmas tree is on display and a cute pair of Mr. and Mrs. Claus dolls add atmosphere. Some of the cabins (perhaps all) have fireplaces in them as well. Depending on which cabin a guest stays in, he or she may want to bring a few food items to cook in the cabin’s kitchen (if he or she stays in a cabin that includes a kitchen). Some cabins (or perhaps all) contain a kitchen table where families or groups can enjoy a meal together or set up a board game. A trip to Petit Jean offers the joys of walking in the woods, being a good distance from the city, and reveling in the peaceful, quiet, beauty of the natural surroundings so prevalent at Petit Jean state park. there are also other activities available at Petit Jean. The atmosphere is very family friendly. Kids can enjoy Petit Jean as much as adults. Guests can read about the history of Petit Jean mountain, and how the story involves a French girl who pretended to be a boy and was given the name “Petit Jean” and how this connects to the name of the park: Petit Jean. Any one who enjoys nature and a homey, camp-like environment will enjoy visiting Petit Jean. During the winter especially, Petit Jean is cozy and offers a great vacation experience. The vacation experience is stellar during the summer as well though, with the woods in full bloom and the weather being ripe for hiking and enjoying the outdoors.
