Robbins entered the military in July of 1942. He was serving as an intern at the time he entered the armed service. He served in the Carlisle Barracks in Pennsylvania, the 3rd Field Artillery of the 9th Armored Division at Fort Riley Kansas, and at Camp Chaffee in Arkansas. He also served as Battalion Surgeon of the 397th Field Artillery of the 16th Division as well as the 47th Infantry Regiment of the 9th Division as Assistant Regimental Surgeon.<br />

Chick was born in Saline Township, Cleburne County, AR. He attended Arkansas State Teachers College, now known as [http://uca.edu UCA], in 1928 (winter) and 1933 (spring). His parents were Mrs. H.W. Montgomery, Chester Arthur Chick (1883-1914), Dollie May Henry (1890-1970), and Henry W. Montgomery, step-father (1883-1958). He had no siblings.<br />

Chick married Ruby Threlkeld Chick on December 31, 1938 in Weakley County, Tennessee, and had one child with her, Thomas Wesley Chick (born 1940). After attending undergrad at UCA and graduate school at UAMS, his son became a pulmonologist. <br />
<br />
He enlisted in the 175th Infantry, 29th Division of the Army, Tennessee, on September 16, 1940.<br />

Chick was killed in action in Normandy, France. He is buried in [[Wikipedia:Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial|Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial]] in France. His wife never remarried.<br />

== Personal History ==<br />
Mitchell was born in Perry, Arkansas to James H. and Pearl J. Mitchell. He had two siblings, Christine and Jeweldine Mitchell. He attended the Arkansas State Teachers College from 1938 to 1939.<br />
<br />
Mitchell married Emmandell High on July 17, 1944 in St. Francis, Arkansas. He was a worker for NYA. Throughout his life, he lived in the Arkansas towns of Bentley, Conway, Perry, and Henton. <br />
<br />
He enlisted in the 154th Observation Squadron, 19th Tactical Air Command, 379th Fighter Squadron of the US Army Air Forces. While in the military, he served in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. He went Missing in Action over Germany. A day after he was announced as MIA, he was promoted to major.<br />
